I do lots of careful porting and add the counterweighted crank, case savers, full flow oil filter, balancing and careful assembly, all with the stock FI. This gives very good driveability and reliability. > or, any comments why this can't be done? Do NOT use oversize drop-in cylinders. They have very poor reliability. Stick with the stock 85.5s or get the case and heads bored for proper oversize P/Cs. The 110 cam is probably fine, but you can probably get the same performance from careful porting. (See the Bill Fisher book and Berg's writeup for porting instructions.) The stock FI is probably fine with a displacement increase of 10%, but I'm not sure that 10% is worth the effort. A good 1600 runs really well. Don't confuse a worn-out 1600 with a good one. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
