I understand your annoyance, but most of them that I've looked at, where the engine has been out at some time, were never installed properly. Either the front end of the Bowden tube was not slipped over the body tube completely, or the rear end was not slipped into the little fitting in the engine breast plate. Either way, the end result will be that the wire wears thru some steel parts at the same time as the steel parts wear thru the wire. In other words, a little care in installation will pay back in spades. The same goes for clutch cables. In 38 years of driving type 3s, I've never had one break on me. In that time I've replaced exactly one on someone else's car that I was working on. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
