Short update and questions at the end. Ever notice how projects like to start small and then snowball to something bigger? In my previous report, I got my 1970 FI Automatic Squareback running (produced Aug 69), but it would not continue to run. It sounded like it was starving for gas. So I pulled the tank, and restored it with the POR15 sealer. While it was out and since I was going to do it anyway (so why not now...), I also replaced the brake system, steering damper, all fuel lines, fuel filter, restored fuel damper, cleaned fuel pump contacts, because it was much easier to access with the tank out. So now that's all new and it's time to put the tank back in with it's restored hardware. Put 2 gallons of FRESH gas in the tank.... and it won't start. :( The thing is that I DON'T hear the fuel pump make it's little pressurizing spin when the key is turned. I put a multimeter on the fuel pump plug and it get's 12V for a second (just long enough for the meter to read it) and then off. I'm guessing that that's all the pump needs. So power is not the problem. I did not do anything to the pump other than clean the outside of it and that did not include any imersion of the pump, merely exterior cleaning. So, any hints on what I did to kill the pump? Any suggestions on what might be done to save the pump? Do I need to prime it somehow? (and if so, how?) I read about putting a jumper to the fuel pump relay to spin the pump, but what I thought was the FI fuel pump relay under the back seat was actually the FI voltage supply relay. So, where is the fuel pump relay?
