When extolling the idea of keeping old cars on the road, I recall being put in my place by a very wise old lady who was still driving at about 90 years old who reminded me of all the improvements that had come about over the years (eg lighting, crush-zones, brakes, handling, passive and active safety systems, energy absorbing everything). We tend to forget these things - presumably because we've been lucky so far and haven't needed them. Also we drive a car that was in many ways already rather special in some of these areas back then. As far as keeping it going, I doubt fuel changes will affect things much - maybe have to change hoses every few years - but wait, we do that already! Dave.
