Day 2 would kill me... the most Ive ever driven in one day was 828 miles and Ive done that twice and I was done and rolled over at the end. These days I doubt my back would hold out that long without moving around. Remember how whipped we were arriving in Cheyenne? The other issue I see with this plan is that it gets us in to Myrtle creek too late for the BBQ. In 02 I found Idaho Boring with a capital B! and if we hit a headwind out there in the flat it would slow us. Who,(maybe Hal) out there in the west might have a thought as to weather the Idaho route or the Nevada route would be better or more scenic or faster? It looks hard to cross southern OR in an east west direction. How are the secondary roads in NV from Winnemucca to Lakeview as far as hilly or making good time? What we could do is push the Indianola Run to Cheyenne again, then to Cheyenne to the NV border, but it really isn't saving us a whole day anyway and I think the route I mapped kept most of the distances about the same and a short last day. Keith This is what I had proposed initially. Day 1 - Dearborn, MI to Russ Wolfe's place in Iowa. 610 miles Day 2 - Indianola, IA to Rawlins, WY. 794 miles Day 3 - Rawlins, WY to Boise, ID. 587 miles Day 4 - Boise, ID to Myrtle Creek, OR. 627 miles. Total Miles: 2618!!!!! One way! That 2nd day is a long one, but it is also just about as straight and flat as we will get and I think it is the same as when we went to ID in '02. I really don't have a problem at all making the days a bit shorter and adding a day to the trip.
