Definitely... The writer had specified the VW fastback by make, so I 
guess he or she was familiar with the cars. At first I was told that 
they were looking for a "VW station wagon in very rough shape" or 
something like that. Apparently, someone in the local VW club (which was 
contacted by someone on behalf of the show) immediately thought of me 
when they thought about someone with a crappy-looking Squareback.

Needless to say, I didn't know if I should be offended or not. :)

Turns out they actually needed a fastback, and mine was up in NH at the 
time. The show films in Queens, NY.
