I Tore the trans down at about 100K miles just to make sure as my sister was going to be driving the car and she was crippled. There was nothing wrong with the trans, and I installed new seals and put it back together. That was in about 1980. Here it is 26 years later, and that automatic trans is still going strong. As for shops that can be recommended to rebuild them, Mitchell Transmission 1440 Locust St. Des Moines, Iowa They are in the yellow pages, and have been in business since the 50's. It is a family owned business that has been passed down from grandfather, to sons, to grandsons.
