A radio might draw 1 A or a bit less. 3 days is 72 hours, so that's
something like 70 A-hrs. Our batteries are rated at 45 A-hrs, so this
is certainly possible.

Even if you don't need the starter, you still need enough battery to
generate a spark (and possibly run the FI.) Most of the time there is
enough juice to do this, if you don't also have to run the starter,
but if the battery's really dead, then it still won't start.

You had enough charge to run the ignition and the FI.

Right

Running at idle probably won't do anything useful, but a long trip
should do it. The best is actually a slow trickle charge, overnight,
or several days.

When the engine is running at medium RPM you should check the system
voltage at the fuse box. It should be above 13.5 V. If it is not,
then you have a problem that needs to be fixed. It could be a bad
connection, but it is most likely a worn out voltage regulator.
Replace it with a Bosch 30-019.
