Brian & Arlene's TR3 was leaving us behind on the hills from Eugene to Myrtle Creek! I was wishing for MORE POWER. There was a notch w/Porsche engine/wheels. Is that notch 911,912,914,Corvair ? What aircooled swaps are possible?

There were two Notchbacks with "Porsche" engines, a light blue one from California belonging to Jessie Rivas, and a silvery/grey one from Washington (with the "64 S 2.7 L" euro plate in front) belonging to Tom Notch.

Jessie's car I know reasonably well. It's got a fairly stock 914 2L in it, fed by dual Weber DCNF carbs. Drove it once, fun machine and has more "civilized" power than some of the cars with big T1/T3 engines I've driven. Fairly inexpensive IIRC, I think he picked up a running "beater" 914 for less than $2k and just swapped the engine in. Now that I think about it though, he's got BRM's on that car not Porsche wheels.

Tom's .. well, I know it's a 2.7L with an aftermarket fuel injection setup. Big dollars, both in building an engine that big and for the FI to feed it .. or at least I'd *assume* big dollars. Y'know what they say, "speed costs money, how fast do you wanna go?". :-) He *does* have Porsche wheels, so his car is probably the one you're thinking of.
