Well, I dug up the old original mirror, and  I was remembering things
incorrectly, it's not stripped, [ that was a different aftermarket 
early style
mirror. ]  it's broken, where the arm goes into the mirror housing, is 
just
torn right out.  that's why it's was wobbly.  It's not really in any 
shape for
repair.

I think perhaps I'll just go with some bug mirrors for now.
