HI Dave, Now that I've seen the drawing, I'm not sure I want to do the sealant... but the sealant is quite thin when it dries. Does the "T3collective" have any experiment records of sealing the tank? If not, I might find a disposable FI tank and try it to find out a definitive answer. Here's my problem, this car may be a daily driver for a while while I test it out, but is intended as an EBV (Emergency Backup Vehicle) for the family so it may not see that many miles. I just don't want it to return to the rusty state I found it in. Which is why the POR15 tank sealant looked like a good option. Thanks for the warning. I'll think about this more before I proceed. Feel free to add your opinions to this situation. :) Big.Al Houston > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: Re: [T3] FI Fuel Tank restoration - revisited > From: "Dave Hall" <dave@hallvw.clara.co.uk> > Date: Mon, April 17, 2006 4:20 am > > Do not seal the tank or you will upset the mechanism for keeping the fuel level > in the cup up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
