Re: [T3] Jerking acceleration

You don't need a fancy timing light. The simple strobe works fine. Make a mark on the pulley for 32 degrees with white paint (I used Liquid Paper). A while back somebody measured the circumference of a Type 3 pulley, and we were able to figure out that 32 degrees of advance is about 2.1 or 2.2 inches (I have forgotten which, but it won't matter) to the "right" of the TDC mark.

Go out and check the timing AFTER your valves have been adjusted and after a drive to warm the engine up. At medium to high RPM you want about 30 to 32 degrees of advance. If you find the timing to kind of bounce around all over while you point the strobe on the mark, your distributor shaft may be worn.
