I know I may be late in the response but just for FYI ensure the distributor and advance mechanism is working properly. Check , double check and triple check this, if the thermostat is gone, flaps open, fan working properly without obstructions in or out, your whole tin is in place, Oil cooler pad is in, ( I myself do not think the seals would cause restriction to a point of overheating the engine that much besides I also think the light would be on if it was restricted that much). If all that is correct IMHO is your timing or advance mech in some way.
