The seal on the left is the adaptor seal, for late case/early cooler or vice versa. The late seal is not shown. Interesting. I've not seen either of these seals in red before. The early seal is usually black, and the adaptor seal is ususally green. The original late seals were always black, but all the replacements I've ever seen were red. I know that others have reported these seals in various colors, however, so color is no longer a useful indicator. The adaptor seal is different sizes on each side, so, when it is needed, it must be positioned correctly or it won't work right either. I have a writeup on these seals if you want more info. > Curious though: if the oil flow to the cooler was restricted because of the > wrong seals being used, wouldn't I be getting a green light? Not necessarily, you could still be getting oil, just not cooled oil. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
