I don't think there is any easy way to repair type 3 heater channels. The main 
problem is probably that they are not round inside, so you can't just shove a 
round flex tube down there, unless you're willing to use a smaller tube and 
suffer from even less heat. Plus, even this would be only a stopgap solution if 
you don't do something to keep the water out of the rocker panels.

The bad news is that galvanic corrosion will eat the aluminum away rather 
quickly. The good news is that this will retard corrosion of the steel.
