When Distributor Plug Wires have come apart from the plug, and it's not clear which one should go where, would it not be OK to test the wires by opening the Control Unit (the "computer") then simply touching the point of a circuit test light to one end, and clipping the alligator clip to Hot? Aren't all the wires supposed to be grounded? If light doesn't go on...bad/broken/ wire. Right? And, you'd be sure to get wire X connected to Control Unit port X. This way one could know which wire at one end corresponds to wire at plug end...and if wire is doing its job. No? (That is...no need for ohmmeter.) The VW T-3 book shows picture diagram of what plug wire goes to what part of distributor. Three numbers corresponding to three contacts in Control Unit. It doesn't say, For God's Sake don't connect them incorrectly!...or what symptoms would be. VW Shoulda colored them....like phone wires. __________________________________ Yahoo!
