I pulled the tank, and the bottom was full of paint flakes from the inside of the tank (plugging the fuel outlet and screen). Apparently VW thought the inside of the fuel tank should be painted to prevent rust, but they never expected today's fuels to eat that layer of paint. :O I washed the inside with water, blew it out with compressed air, then washed it withsome 2 cycle gas (lawn mower / snowblower fuel) to prevent it from rusting, then refilled the tank with good fuel. It's been good to go since. : ) I hope this helps.
