You must be living a charmed life. ;-) Yeah, when I got my first type 3 with a heated rear window, I was young and energetic and kept my car clean all the time, including the insides of all the windows. It didn't take many years for me to clean that part to destruction. Is there a kind of masking/striping tape that one can use to do narrow pinstripes? I'm thinking about something where you lay down a tape and then peel up a center section leaving a thin open strip which will let you paint a pinstripe. I wonder if one could do a good repair this way. Where would one look for striping tape like this? The problem, which I certainly learned the hard way, was that there is a kind of reddish brown "primer" that is right on the glass, and that primer is very durable, but it's NOT the heated element. The conductive part is silvery and corrodes easily, and is rather fragile and easily removed if you clean the windows at all vigorously. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
