Tin foil perhaps...? You can buy rolls of soft thin aluminum at Home Despot as roof flashing for pretty reasonable prices. I have some here if the price for a whole roll seems too high. I'd think that one might be able to fashion a reasonable shield out of something like this and use hose clamps to clamp it to the header pipes. There's no big secret to a heat shield. It's just one or more layers of some material separated from the hot part by a layer of air. The only tricky part is to design it so that the engine vibration doesn't tear it apart too quickly. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
