A miss is just the engine missing a single power stroke. You feel it

Driving it more after reading this description It's definitely missing. I think at points it's also dropping down to 3 cylinders. [ thus my description of sputtering. ]

I disconnected the throttle position switch and drove it
the problem didn't seem to go away at all.
[why can I drive it like this? what does that switch do? ]

I checked the plug wires. they were 1k, 1k, 5k, and 0 ohms. the 0 ohm one actually fell apart,
the wire coming out of the plug end connector, and brown dust falling out of that.
I put it back together before measuring it. Driving it after this,
the missing seemed to go away for a little bit. This all seems to suggest
I need new plug wires. Can I get these from the flaps? my aircooled
store is only open when I'm at work, so it's harder to get there.

I didn't check the plugs, yet. I need to get the right plug socket.
