Sounds a bit scary, but not too effective on a type 3 mirror, where 
the mirror is held in a spring loaded mount that is part of the metal 
roof assembly. Type 3 mirrors aren't glued to the glass. That 
"feature" didn't come along until a few years after our cars were 
made.
