[T3] question to ask about change 6 volts to 12 volts

my 65 notchback. so i have  12 volts  already  . But , the gas gauge didnt 
work . i think it is 6 volts.  i saw ads on samba and ebay  about  type 3 
vdo gas thank sending unit oe 12 v  . it will be work ?  i saw my notchback 
. it seen it is 6 volts .  pls help   pls let me know Thank you
