In my book 'toodling' suggests driving along in no special hurry, enjoying the drive and not stressing yourself or the car. Now 'tooling' sounds like 'putting the pedal to the metal' (apologies if it's a rude thing to say in the USA). I think we had a fairly leisurely 'toodle' to Hershey, but at times to/from Parma we were definitely 'tooling' along. ;-) Dave.
