Even light grey can absorb a lot of heat, but I agree that a closed car is also a pretty good greenhouse. I would expect the weave of any kind of fabric to actually trap quite a bit of the incoming light energy; just think of how much a mirror reflects, and then recall that the difference between a good mirror and the grey fabric is all absorbed by the fabric. Plus we have to consider that our eyes really can't tell us what the grey is doing with the infrared, where much of the energy is. I tend to just leave my windows open a crack all the time, and on hot sunny days I would try to leave them open an inch, just to promote airflow and avoid this problem. This doesn't help much under a cover. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
