Once you get the halves to tighten up you may find that the belt is too tight, so you may have to transfer shims to the inside to get it right. I THOUGHT that the outside shims didn't have to be there to make this work right, but I always advise people to put the extra shims there. Otherwise, the next time you need them, they'll be lost. I'll check downstairs to see what happens if there are no shims there. Note that this belt does NOT have to be particularly tight. It's easy, and counterproductive, to overtighten it. It is hard on the belt, the generator bearings, and even the #4 engine main bearing. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
