<x-flowed windows-1255>Thanks to all for the help. This has turned into quite a thread.

It seems that almost every car has a slightly different arrangement.

Personally up to now I have always used plastic cable ties to keep things tidy, and I may just keep doing so as all of my original fittings are missing. Also, not all of my engine tin is original to my car and some of it is later and so has different screw holes and things.

I think Dave was right about the plastic having shrunk on the wire holders. I am sure they were originally softer than they are now and if they damage the wires then it probably isn't worth it. I think mine is probably OK - the nick doesn't seem all that deep, but we'll just have to see whether it works alright.

That was a little aluminum strip that was kinda rolled around the vacuum
advance line going to the left carb. to keep it away from the linkage.
