Carb? I can imagine that the air cleaner might be over there, but not the carb. Maybe I just don't know the carbs well enough. > That is why I asked whether this might be an FI only part. It's possible. I think I've seen supports like this on early carb engines, but they just had a single arm. I've also seen LOTS of these brackets where one arm was broken off. I was guessing that VW went to the 2 sided version for all cars. I know they were in use by 68 with the introduction of the FI, but maybe they kept the other version in use with carbs. > BTW, what goes under the little clip that's screwed into the other hole, a > fuel line? In that location it was FI only, for the fuel line. I think VW used exactly the same clips in several places over the years for different purposes. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
