It's a good post.

My only quibble with it would be regarding the comments related to water
contamination. The statements about the problems you would have if you got
actual droplets of water in a DoT-5 filled system are true, but he doesn't
mention how unlikely this is. I wouldn't recommend DoT-5 for swamp buggys, and
most of us don't try to drive our cars underwater.

Water absorption from humid air is a different matter, and I don't think this
will ever result in actual water droplets, but I suppose it's possible.

I also don't care for the comments about the "goop" that accumulates in
silicone filled systems. In my opinion, this goop (yes, it really exists) is
just what you get if you don't flush out the old stuff sufficiently. It's
unfair to blame it on the DoT-5. I suspect that it consists mostly of silicon
lubricants that came supplied in the original brake components, plus rubber
wear particles that accumulate in that thicker lubricant. In 35 years of using
DoT-5, I''ve only had one negative experience possibly related to that goop,
but that was in a 914 proportioning valve, and this post is on a 914 forum.
