Low system voltage will make the FI run rich and keep a carbed car from opening 
its chokes. Either way slows the engine warmup. Could this be what you've 
noticed?

Nope, just one that I've verified the actual resistance of before I send it 
off. Otherwise, there's always this nagging question....

In your case, just comparing with your new replacement generator should tell 
you what's up.
