Aren't those 6mm bolts with a tiny little 6mm hex socket in them? The late oval head bolts are 8mm. It's really hard to get much torque on a bolt with just a 6mm Allen driver on them, those socket heads round off really quickly. Maybe that's why the early hinges NEEDED three bolts! Come to think of it, I have a few of those 6mm bolts that came to me from someone else who parted out a '66 decades ago. ISTR, that they had paint on the heads and there is some kind of bolt maker's name on there in raised letters. I had always assumed that these were brake drum bolts, but was confused by the paint, since those were never painted. Would these special bolts be of interest to anyone? -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
