IIRC, (from one of my VW history books, which included
the '64-'65 buying of Audi by VW). Horch was founded
earlier, (teens or twneties) by the same person who
later started Audi, (his name may have even been
Horch???). The board of Horch kicked him out in a
hostile take over. When he later founded Audi he
purposely chose the name as a dig, and found great
glee in buying back Horch, and firing all of his
former "friends".
