Yup, my car is 100% original and has not been messed up by any P.O. :)

Can you think of any reason why VW would have put that seal there? From your
other comments I gather that we agree that it is pointless in the type 4 body.

Maybe they wanted to prevent heat from rising up with the car standing still or being turned off to avoid vapor lock in the FI system? Or maybe to prevent false readings from those temp sensors that are exposed to the engine compartment? Or to prevent rubber/plastic pieces from aging more rapidly because of higher heat levels?


Those are the only things I could think of.
