It's really just the finely divided metal chips which are the hazard. It's 
quite hard to set a big chunk like the case on fire. The biggest problem might 
well be the secondary stuff that the magnesium set on fire, like the cardboard 
that Brad was working on.

I've seen quite a few VW engine fire carcasses, but the case was always pretty 
much intact.
