Drill 2 holes in a long (~2m) steel bar so they match up with 2 of the drive plate holes, and bolt the drive plate to the bar. Now unbolt the gland nut with your big socket, breaker bar, and cheater. When you install the new seal, note that it goes in below flush in the case. It comes to rest against a step in the bore, and you can drive it there using the old seal as a tool. Drive it in flush with a hammer and a flat board, then add the old seal and tap it in about 3mm more. Make sure the mating surface of the flywheel is perfectly smooth. If there is ANY roughness, sand it away with 400, then 600 grit wet/dry paper wet with motor oil. Before you install the flywheel, oil the seal lip AND the nose of the flywheel with motor oil. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
