Hi, got a probalem I'm trying to figure out with my 71 Square. It's got a basically stock 1600 which now has dual baby Webers and an 009 distributor. A while back when I first put the carbs on, it seemed to run fine, but would overheat in a matter of about 15 minutes. Some looking around revealed mountains of mouse nest makin's stuffed in the tins and fins. So, I cleaned everything out, but by then it was the end of the season, so I put the car away. Now, when I start the car, it seems to start okay, and it sounds fine in neutral, but when I put it into drive (it's an auto) it barely moves. It acts as if the brakes are stuck, which they aren't, I checked. The trans fluid is still on mark. The motor seems to check out fine. I did have to do some tweaking to the carbs to sync them, but they seem fine. Here's my guesses: 009 distributor not advancing (or advancing too fast) under load...put stock vacuum distributor back on (will this work with the carbs?) trans fluid contaminated/stale/clogged/whatever...change fluid and filter. After this, I'm out of ideas. I sure could use some fresh perspective, anyone got any ideas? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx DON! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
