I certainly recommend you take it apart and see what's going on. I also 
recommend you take off the muffler before you open the fan shroud. It makes 
access to the bolts MUCH easier, and makes taking the whole thing apart 
simple without removing the engine - I removed all external engine parts and 
did have any particular problem reaching anything once the muffler was off .

Russ has a way of doing it without removing the muffler, but Russ got paid a 
flat rate for doing the job, so time was of the essence.
