I've been struggling with my battery/charging system lately. A couple of months ago my battery went dead. I added a little distilled water to it, put it on my charger for a few hours and reinstalled it. Jim A. sent me the charging system FAQ and I did the tests on the system. Everything seemed to check out ok until last Thursday. I went to start the car to go to work and it wouldn't turn the engine over, well, maybe once, then nothing. I jumped it with the battery out of my bus and got to work ok. I had to jump it again to get home. When I got home I pulled the battery out. The two cells closest to the negative post needed a little water. I put it on the charger overnight and reinstalled it. The car started right up with no problem. I did the system checks from the FAQ just in case something had failed since the last time I checked but the numbers all looked good. My thought was that maybe it was time for a new battery. I had no trouble with the car driving to work and back on Saturday. Then this morning, another twist. The car started fine but on my way to work I noticed that at higher rpms my generator light would glow. I thought it might be a loose generator belt but when I checked it on my lunch break it seemed fine. Anyone got a clue what might be going on here? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
