I THINK that all you need to do is to get the transmission centered between the 
diagonal arms. This should be easy on an MT: Just measure from the pinch weld 
on the diagonal arm to the center of the casting rib on the bottom of the 
transmission. Then move the engine from side to side to make these measurements 
equal.

As far as front-to-back goes, I think you just want the rubber mounts to be 
stress free.
