For a few weeks the Fastback had intermittent no-start and rough-running conditions, forcing my wife to drive the Suburban much more than she likes (going to Berkeley Bowl in a Suburban draws LOTS of evil glares..). I finally got around to looking at it today. Right away I found the little braided wire between the distributor breaker plates had become disconnected from the the top plate. I installed a spare distributor and all is well again. Seems like I should be able to resolder that broken connection, right?? Some of you might remember a couple months back hearing my story of the neighbor who backed into my door. Well, I took the door panel apart, removed the glass and pushed the outer skin from the inside. I managed to get most of the dent pushed back out. That old steel has pretty good memory. I was pleasantly surprised at the result.
