It's only necessary to drain it at the end of days when you actually used it. 
You don't actually HAVE to drain it then, but it's a very good idea. If you 
only use it in the winter, then the air may be dry enough that you won't have 
any condensation on most days, but you'll figure that out pretty quickly. That 
will change drastically when things get humid.
