well... and alternator is a better choice over a generator but it isnt worth the conversion. I get 30-40K out of my generators and all I ever need to do is change the brushes. I have all kinds of electrical gismo's including rewired headlights and they do just fine with the gen, I even got 9 years out of the last battery. If ya wanna be "cool" just make sure you have an alternator that you can get parts or replacement for as they do wear out too.
