Not many Type 3s in Germany - they all went to the USA. ;-) They come out of the woodwork - anywhere from 50 to 80 at their annual gathering, and quite a smattering at local meetings on the Continent and in the UK. Many more Bugs though - the attrition rate of Type 3s is greater than either Type 1 or Type 2. There are quite severe rules on keeping cars that are not 'on the road' in Germany - can't just leave them in the garden. Actually, that's just where someone did leave theirs - a subsequent owner dug up a Beetle in the garden. Dave.
