It was also used in a number of later water cooled VWs so you should be able to find on in the junkyard, too. Was the vacuum hose full of fluid? Very small leaks are not a problem, but it's a problem once the vac hose is sucking ATF into the intake. It's hard to imagine this causing a lurch, unless it's a really big leak. In that case, the main symptom of a really big leak is smoky exhaust, from all the ATF that's getting burned, plus a steadily declining ATF level. If you've just found "some" fluid in the hose that's as likely to be condensate from the engine as it is ATF. If it's a leak, it will be clearly red. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
