My mechanic built one into a Notch a few years ago. One complicating
factor is that the transaxle position relative to the body and
suspension is a bit different between the Porsche platform and the Type
3, but even without that I have a hard time imagining squeezing that
motor down flat without some major custom reengineering of the cooling
system and probably the fuel system as well. In any case I kinda don't
think you'd want to do that swap with the goal of hauling groceries and
a couple kids, so maybe you could consider putting in a firewall and
turning the cargo area into an engine bay with windows.
