What's interesting here is that all the distributors on the chart were

Scott, maybe I'm confused but it looks to me like there are 6 distributors
called out on this page and only 3 of them are type 3 distributors. Or did some
early type 3s use 111 dists? Out of those 6, two type 1 dists and two type 3
dists had the retarded # 3 cam.

There's a chart in my copy of the parts book that lists all distributors with Type 3 applications for the purpose of showing what part numbers superseded others over the years. All the distributors on the advance curve page were used in Type 3s. Distributors with 111 part numbers seem to have been original to the "N" models.

111 905 205 L (ZV/JU 4 R 3) is for single carb engines from August 1963 through July 1964
111 905 205 M is for single carb engines from August-November 1964
111 905 205 N is for single carb engines from December 1964 through July 1966
341 905 205 (ZV/JCU 4 R 3) is for dual carb engines from August 1963 through July 1964
311 905 205 D is for a dual carb engines from August-November 1964
311 905 205 E is for a dual carb engines from December 1964 through July 1965

The way I read the page, the two center charts are separate advance curves for the centrifugal and vacuum advance mechanisms within the same 1964 1500S distributor(!), which did indeed combine both types of advance. The 1965 and later distributors are noted by Russ' chart as having #3 retarded.
