The '64 '65 1500S was the hottest running engine that they ever used,
and they had no porblems with overheating. 
When the FI came out, people were leary of it, and tried to blame any
ills on it. One of the things that came up was the direction of the
louvers. VW came out with the kit to passify customers. Very few were
ever actually installed. Most of those were on A/C T-3's.
