Diesels do take longer to heat up, especially the modern ones, because they are much more efficient and less energy makes it out of the engine as waste heat.


I remember a few years ago when I drove a new Golf with the TDI engine for some time, when it was really cold and the engine was still warming up you would actually see the temp gauge needle *drop* standing at traffic lights for more than 30 seconds or so...
