Some fuel injection cars will lose all the fuel from their fuel lines if left standing for a long time (weeks, months, years.) The car won't start until the lines are full, but cranking the starter just to make the fuel pump run wastes the starter and the battery. There are 2 ways to solve this. You can cycle the key ON and OFF several times if the problem is minor. Each time you turn the key ON the pump will run for about 1 second. For larger problems, it's better to just install a momentary pushbutton switch that will run the pump to prime the system. I've made up switches like this for use on several of my cars that had this problem, and it helps a lot. I just get in the car, turn the key ON, and hold the button down until I can no longer hear the air bubbling up in the gas tank. Then I start the car right up. It saves time, battery, and starter. I have these switches made up, with mounting bracket, wiring, and instructions for $10 (MT) or $11(AT.) -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
