Hi all, I just moved to Pittsburgh and have to pass the safety inspection. Perhaps I should have done this when I got the car in '98, but I finally decided I should get the horn working... Well, I ended up breaking a second of the four plastic press-fit connections that hold the face plate of the steering wheel to the wheel. So, now this large piece of plastic is only attached on one short side and pushed out by the springs on the other. It's a '72 squareback. All the steering wheels I've seen online appear to fit just about anything up to 1971, but not '72. Does anyone have any suggestions or parts? I could probably do with just a new front plate (that you push to sound the horn). However, one of the pieces on the wheel itself is broken, so I'd still only have three connection points. It got dark on me, so I don't know how more comes off the wheel. I was pretty frustrated, so I needed to quit for the night. I'd love to fix this soon, as my tags expire Wednesday (yes, I know...) and I think I get 10 days from the application for the plates/title to get the safety inspection. I suppose I could fail the inspection and get temp plates anyway... Any ideas? Thanks, Eric Helton '72 fi squareback ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
