Yes.  The length of the end swaging was reduced to allow the cable to be flexed
enough to unhook from the pedal hook through the front tunnel access hole.  This
saved the mechanics having to remove the pedal cluster to replace the cable.
Great time saving!  It's in the factory manual somewhere - either cables can be
used.
